The Woodburn Fire Department is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. We are your neighbors, co-workers, and fellow citizens, committing thousands of hours each year to serve and support our community. Join us in making a difference!
Every member dedicates more than 800 hours each year to assist with operations, training, and administrative responsibilities.
We expect a high degree of professionalism from ourselves and all who contribute to our collective mission.
Our culture is built on innovation, rigorous training, and a pursuit of excellence. We are dedicated to continuously improving ourselves and uplifting our community.
The commitment to serve requires a significant amount of time. Our members must fulfill various requirements for initial and ongoing training, operational staffing, and supporting the Department’s administrative functions.
Our families, who support us from behind the scenes, also serve each time we head out for duty, classes, or meetings. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and realize that we couldn’t function without their support.
Our department follows a reverse-rotational schedule one night a week (6 PM to 6 AM) and every fifth weekend (a 45-hour shift). Each member is part of a battalion, with each battalion being on-duty for an average of 108 hours per month.
Adjusting to this type of schedule can be confusing initially, as it was for all of us. If you have any questions about the duty schedule, please don’t hesitate to ask during the application process.
Step 1:
Submit Application
Our Membership team will review your application and conduct standard background and driver record checks. Once these are reviewed, we will contact you to schedule an interview.

We will have a conversation to get to know you, discuss your reasons for wanting to volunteer, and go over the membership requirements. If we both agree it’s a good fit, we will move forward with the next steps in the process!

Your name will be submitted to the Woodburn Fire Department membership for approval. Once you are officially voted in as a member, you’ll begin your journey to becoming a Firefighter.
